Yukti is a Sanskrit word. Its English synonym is ‘strategy’. It involves applying skill, tact and ingenuity to a situation, which is challenging.

A good and sound education system has the potential to change the lives of many. Education has a critical role in overcoming societal inequalities. But education without effective career decision making skills is incomplete empowerment.

Career Yukti is a developmentally sequenced curriculum based career education programme. It is run in schools with underserved students, as an extra curricular activity during the academic year.

The pilot programme is being run in 5 government and private affordable schools with 200 students and focusses on intra personal skills, inter personal skills and non academic cognitive skills. Here are snapshots of Career Yukti in action.

Career With a Focus is an introductory career development programme aimed at clarifiying the direction of the students’ future professional and personal growth. It is a 2 hr classroom based programme for students from Std 9 – 12 that is offered free of charge by Vocatio. The programme introduces the steps in making career decisions and important personal and social factors involved in making informed career decisions.
is a unique career intervention programme based on successfully setting up and running a sustainable enterprise as teams. In a complete experiential environment, children handle value chain issues about their product, its sustainability production, process innovation, financing the production, and assessment of the marketplace. Along with learning to apply entrepreneurial skills and adopting sustainability as a business model, a key bonus includes learning teamwork skills and the child’s ability to deal with the unknown in an enterprising way.
At Vocatio, innovation is what guides the creation of resources and programmes in the realm of career education for Indian students. The Innovation Lab is a unique collaboration space for researchers, educators, parents and children in career education that addresses the issue of bridging the gap between theory and practice. Research findings from India and around the world form the foundation as guides to thought for new resources and learning material. It enables us to engage with students and parents, ideate in human-centric and culturally attuned ways, prototype and pilot programmes to test the suitability of our resources created. Kaamyaab is a career education programme for at-risk students based on systematic scenario building activities that uses a problem solving approach. The activities not only address the skills and knowledge necessary for entry level work but also prepare the learners for advancing beyond entry level jobs, focussing on how skills transfer from one context to another, as individuals prepare for multiple occupations across a life span.
